Anthony Negus (Bruce 64)

Anthony writes, “In 2013, the bicentenary of Wagner’s birth, I conducted 3 complete cycles of The Ring at Longborough – the only UK venue to stage a cycle in that year. Tristan und Isolde followed in both 2015 and 2017, to considerable acclaim, directed by my wife, Carmen Jakobi; and in 2016, Tannhauser. In the last two years, I have conducted two operas there in a season: 2017 Tristan und Isolde and The Magic Flute, 2018 The Flying Dutchman and Ariadne auf Naxos. For Melbourne Opera, Tristan, and in 2019, The Flying Dutchman. In Longborough 2019, Das Rheingold will inaugurate a new Ring Cycle.” Anthony is Music Director of Longborough Festival Opera.
