Derek Nightingale (Chatham 49)

Derek writes, “A highlight of last year was the Roxburgh Society lunch on 16 June 2019, when those who had known JF were invited to attend. An excellent meal in impressive surroundings at which Geoffrey Norton (Chatham 49), a Chatham House contemporary, also attended. Home news is less cheerful – old age has it’s drawbacks. My wife is suffering from Alzheimer’s, whilst I am shortly to start a course of chemotherapy. However, despite being 88, I’m still employed as organist and choirmaster in two of the parishes in the Wallingford Team Benefice. Our four children and twelve grandchildren continue to flourish. Those of our grandchildren who have acquired University degrees have all gone straight into worthwhile employment.”
