Peter Rapelye (Bruce 66)

Peter writes, “Retirement continues to bring lifelong learning opportunities in Princeton, NJ, where my wife, Janet, is completing her 14th year as Dean of Admission at Princeton University. My postgraduate year at Stowe and an MSc from LSE helped capture my interest in Anglo-American relations, in particular, the war years. I recently taught a course to fellow seniors, FDR and Churchill: A Legacy of Leadership for the Ages. Not a dry eye in the audience. On the drawing board for Fall 2017 will be Rescue and Resistance: Lessons from WWII for the 21st Century with a special tribute to Old Stoic, Sir Nicholas Winton (Grenville 27). The mounting refugee crisis today together with the 75th Anniversary of WWII brings to light the significance of these personal acts of physical and moral courage. ‘I never ‘worry’ about action, but only about inaction.’ Churchill, 1940s (cited in Langworth, Churchill: In His Own Words).”
